Community Groups Plan Health Care Outreach Saturday

Before Sunday’s big game, there’s another “super” event going on in Wisconsin. On “Super Saturday,” organizations around the state will hold sign up events to help people get insurance through Healthcare.gov.

With two weeks to go until open enrollment ends for health care sold on the federal marketplace, navigators and community groups are hitting it hard.

Danielle Coterel, with the group Covering Kids & Families in Milwaukee, said that the government health care website is running smoothly but many people might wait until the last minute to enroll.

“Even though the marketplace is working a lot better and the call center has staff to answer questions, we expect wait times to be a little bit longer so encouraging consumers to have patience and get the help they need,” Coterel said.

According to federal health officials, more than 179,000 people have signed up for coverage on Wisconsin’s federally run marketplace. That’s more than signed up last year. Open enrollment continues until Feb. 15.
