Assembly Democrats say Gov. Scott Walker should call a special session to focus on helping the economy instead of rewriting election laws.

Walker has said that if the Wisconsin Supreme Court or a federal court finds that the state’s voter ID law is unconstitutional, he would call the Legislature back in a special session to fix it.

At a state Capitol press conference, Rep. Andy Jorgensen, D-Milton, called that a case of misplaced priorities.

“Republicans aren’t trying to fix problems, they’re trying to fix elections,” said Jorgensen.

Among the bills Democrats say should be brought up for a vote is one that would create a refundable tax credit for angel investors and another that would raise Wisconsin’s minimum wage.

Republicans hold majorities in both houses of the Legislature, which adjourned about a week ago.
