Pockets Of Midwest Run Risk Of Wildfires

The risk of wildfires is increasing across Wisconsin.

According to the Department of Natural Resources, about half the state is experiencing conditions in which burning is not recommend because a fire would be difficult to control.

The National Weather Service says the eastern parts of Minnesota and Iowa could see pockets of wildfires tomorrow. Meteorologist Todd Shea says although the fire risk is not as severe in Wisconsin, people should still avoid any burning tomorrow.

“Typically when you get warm temperatures, drier air, and those blustery southwest winds, it can spark a…or if anyone’s burning it can get out of control really quick. That’s why we have a heightened concern out there.”

The temperature in southwest Wisconsin will jump into the mid-80s in southwest Wisconsin tomorrow. Shea says that’s not predicted to bring any severe weather, but thunderstorms are predicted later in the week.
