Nathan Edwards is a musician, recording engineer, composer, and videographer. He holds a Graduate degree in Electronic Music and New Media Technology from Northern Illinois University, and a degree in Recording Technology and Music Business from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Presently, he serves as Assistant Professor of Audio Technology in the Digital Arts and Design program at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota. He previously taught Audio Technology courses at the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg and served as head recording engineer at Ark Media Group in Menasha, Wisconsin.
In addition to his extensive training in composition and electronic music production, he has done work in location recording, MIDI systems, piano and vocal performance, digital video production, graphic design, music merchandising, and live music management.
He has engineered numerous albums by national and regional touring artists including the album, “Dusk Came Slow” by John Statz, which won the Madison Area Music Awards Folk/Americana Album of the Year in 2007. As a musician, he has also made appearances on public radio in both South Dakota and Wisconsin.
His original compositions and audio/visual work explore techniques in musique concrete and electronic music production developed throughout the 20th century. They have been presented at several Electro-acoustic festivals including the CHAT Festival at the University of North Carolina, and Electronic Music Midwest at Lewis University near Chicago. His audio/visual work has been displayed at the Washington Pavilion Visual Arts Center in Sioux Falls, and has been featured at Northern State University and the North Dakota Museum of Art.
Currently, he also serves as faculty chair for the university live music organization, DSU Live, and is a member of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music (SEAMUS). In addition to being published in their newsletter, he performed his original work at the national SEAMUS music conference in 2013.
