Gary Martine was born and raised in Gallup, New Mexico. His parents are Navajo and Jicarilla Apache. After years of traveling, he settled in Wyoming to work at the Headstart and received his teaching degree and licensure as part of the Northern Arapaho Teacher Education Program that is in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
