Paul and Andy + Eccentric Acoustic + The Farwell Kings
$10 adv/ $15 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show, then available at the door). Doors at 6pm, showtime 7pm Paul Smith & Andy Jehly Paul Smith & Andy Jehly bring harmony, humor, and laid-back style to their favorite songs, ranging from folk and blues to Motown and psychedelic rock. Both are multi-instrumentalists, incorporating guitar, dobro, bass, keyboards and ukulele into their music. Paul and Andy come from very different musical backgrounds, Andy mainly from traditional music and the 90s and Paul focused on folk rock, Beatles, and 1967 American psychedelica. They share a passion for music with history, great harmonies, and evocative lyrics. They’ve played together since about 2014, and have also been part of the Acoustic Anarchy supergroup since about 2016. Eccentric Acoustic Eccentric Acoustic consists of Scott Emmons on bass,Sandy Stehling on guitar and Ruth Williams on mandolin. Their wide-ranging repertoire includes tunes from the swing era, country blues, contemporary folk and country music. Their arrangements include mellifluous harmonies and hot licks. Scott Emmons is the retired dean of the Peck School of the Arts at UWM, a multi-instrumentalist with a life-time of experience performing and teaching music. Sandy Stehling is a versatile guitarist who started with American folk music, studied classical guitar for a number of years, and along the way developed a taste for country blues, ragtime, and jazz. Ruth Williams learned to sing harmony with her sister while doing dishes in the family home. She has played for years with the Milwaukee Mandolin Orchestra and sings with the Bel Canto Chorus. Eccentric Acoustic has played together in the Milwaukee area for about eight years, most frequently at the Riverwest Filling Station and Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. They have organized and played in numerous benefit concerts for local non-profit groups. Eccentric Acoustic is also part of the local Milwaukee super-group ‘Acoustic Anarchy’. The Farwell Kings The Farwell Kings have been a cicada of sorts on the Milwaukee Music scene – hibernating for periods of time just to come storming out to remind the world of their presence. Their current rejuvenation arrives with a fresh set of originals accompanied by select covers ranging from alt-country to Americana, retro-pop, and all other things that are basically Rock & Roll. The five Kings came together from a mix of previous favorite regional acts including Rumble Seat, McTavish, Eric Erickson Band, The Get Hot, Mad Bark, and the Rattlecan Kings. Split up lead vocals, throw in a little accordion and resonator guitar for spice, and you get a show that appeals to head, heart, and butt. $10 adv/ $15 at the door (advance sales until 3pm day of show, then available at the door).
