A new poll shows Republicans are firmly behind Gov. Scott Walker while Democrats are nearly united behind U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin as they both run for re-election.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Tuesday on a new Suffolk poll conducted for the newspaper. It finds both Walker and Baldwin have almost no support from members of the opposite political party.

The poll also found that the race between Walker and Democrat Tony Evers was about even, the same result as a Marquette University Law School poll last week.

The Suffolk poll shows Baldwin has 50 percent support compared with 42 percent for Republican challenger Leah Vukmir. The Marquette poll found them to be about even.

The Suffolk poll of 500 likely voters was done between Aug. 18 and Aug. 24 and had a 4.4 percentage point margin of error.
