Sign up for Ann Thomas’s Painting Workshop, “Capturing Galena,” August 12 and 13 from 9 am to 4 pm. With your own portable ink pens, small watercolor set, and sketchpad, enjoy capturing the wonderful architecture of Galena, Illinois, with its charming downtown area and abundant historical buildings. Ann will share her techniques for laying down quick pen and ink line images, and then adding tone, texture, contrast, and vibrant color to create spontaneous-energy filled drawings. Ann encourages students to bring the tools they already have and with which they are comfortable. This is a very portable class, and the media used should be quick drying and easy to carry. The cost is $225 per person for two days, including a box lunch each day. The class will originate at the Galena Center for the Arts located at 971 Gear Street in Galena, Illinois, and then move to downtown or residential areas to work outdoors.
