Green Bay Will Face Seattle Seahawks, Reigning Super Bowl Champions, On Sunday

Packers fans crowded a team-sponsored pep rally on Thursday night outside of Lambeau Field three days before Green Bay squares off against the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game.

At least a few hundred green-and-gold-clad fans jammed into a tent in the stadium parking lot. A drum group got things going before fans heard from team officials and players.

“They scratch our back, we scratch theirs,” said one fan who came from Two Rivers to attend the rally. “They give us good football, we come out to pep rallies to make sure they’re ready to make sure they bring that trophy home.”

The Lombardi Trophy, which goes to the winner of the Super Bowl, is the trophy that fans are hoping the Packers bring back to Green Bay.

Kathy Grawien of De Pere said she thinks shows of fan support resonate with players.

“They are so gracious and appreciative of their fans that anything we can do to give that back to them — I think it’s a big circle,” said Grawien. “We cheer for them, they play harder.”

Some sports analysts see the Packers as the underdogs in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks, who are the reigning Super Bowl champs.
