One In Custody After Protest Over Lack Of Charges In Williams Case

A street protest stemming from the Derek Williams case in Milwaukee has led to at least one person being taken into police custody.

About fifty members of the group Occupy the Hood marched in downtown Milwaukee late this afternoon, after a special state prosecutor issued a report saying he won’t pursue criminal charges against three police officers present when Williams died in the back of a police car in 2011.

WIlliams had complained of health problems, but officers told Williams to quit faking. Occupy the Hood wants federal attorneys to now file charges agains the officers. U.S. Attorney James Santelle says investigations continue.
