New Orleans’ Talented Clarinetist, Tim Laughlin

By
Album Cover, 2014 The Trio Collection Vol I, Gentilly Records

It is said that Tim Laughlin is one of the brightest of the New Orleans-based clarinetists to emerge during the 1990s. I first heard him at the 2016 Annual French Quarter Festival held in April. His sound is rich, smooth, and alluring. What’s more, and based upon the large crowd that had gathered at Jackson Park to hear him, Laughlin is worthy of the praise. His sound is clearly traditional and yet there’s a genuine modern, almost classical texture to how he approaches solos that are fluid and wonderfully musical. I’m a fan for sure!
