The city of Marshfield in northern Wisconsin has already exhausted its snow removal budget for this year.
The city is going to have to find additional money for snow removal after a snowy spring and an early start to winter, according to Marshfield City Administrator Steve Barg.
“The city is going to far exceed its 2014 snow removal budget. We budgeted $375,000. It looks like we’re going to run closer to about $600,000. It could be even more depending on how bad December is,” said Barg.

Barg said he doesn’t think Marshfield is alone.
“I assume that other municipalities are having similar problems,” he said. “The last couple of years have been much higher snowfall that required a lot more public works assistance, this year being worse than 2013.”
Marshfield will try to make up the shortfall with its contingency fund, and by transferring money from other public works projects.
