Manufacturer Announces Creation Of 250 New Jobs In Mosinee

By

Crystal Finishing Products has announced plans to expand its business and bring 250 new jobs to the city of Mosinee.

It’s good news for a community that recently suffered the loss of hundreds of manufacturing jobs from the departure of SNE Enterprises.

Crystal Finishing, a central Wisconsin company, already employs more than 500 people in the Wausau area and River Falls manufacturing high-performance coatings and aluminum fabrication products. Its business has doubled in the last three years, according to company president Mark Matthiae, who says he will be hiring at least 250 new people.

“With the new facility, we are putting in new equipment. We are not relocating. This is [entirely] new jobs and new processes, and just making a great win-win for not only our employees here, our customers, and certainly for the community.”

It’s a win for the city of Mosinee, because Crystal Finishing will be moving into a building vacated by SNE Enterprises, a window and door company that laid off 550 people last year. Matthiae says he may be able to rehire some of those laid off workers.

“There’s a very good work ethic in central Wisconsin and Wisconsin in general. Building a business around equipment is one thing, facility is another, but people are the difference.”

The Crystal Finishing expansion is the second piece of good economic news in Mosinee this week. Earlier, Wausau Paper announced the sale of its Mosinee mill, averting a possible shutdown.
