The Foundation was created by Tyler & Lauren Arkens, who knew firsthand the financial challenges involved in living with this disease because of expenses that are not covered by health insurance, including medications, nutritional supplies, co-pays, medical devices and supplies, hospital bills, and more. Many people helped to raise funds for the Arkens when Lauren had a miraculous double lung transplant and a second chance at life in late 2015 and she and Tyler started the Foundation to help others. Sadly, we lost Lauren in 2019 from complications from her transplant. Tyler owns Green Bay Floral & Greenhouse and continues the Foundation as Lauren’s legacy. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a progressive, life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and pancreas, making it difficult to breathe and digest nutrients. Patients with CF spend hours a day doing respiratory therapy treatments and take dozens of pills in an attempt to create a normal life and breathe easily. Approximately 30,000 children and young adults in the United States are afflicted with cystic fibrosis. Our mission is to assist families with financial assistance for medications, additional treatments, nutritional supplements, travel, lodging, and other ancillary costs that make life even harder to live. We canʼt do this without your support. Currently, the median predicted survival age for someone with CF is 40 and we are in a race against time to make CF history and support those enduring all stages of the disease.
