Iron County D.A. Asks For Public’s Help In Drill Site Raid Investigation

By

Law enforcement is asking the public to help them identify more of the masked people who raided a mine drilling site in Iron County last June.

They say there is a risk of another raid and violence.

The criminal complaint against the Stevens Point woman arrested in the incident detailed threats and profanity against the nine drilling contract operators on June 11. Iron County District Attorney Marty Lipske says a video of the raid released last month proves his point.

“The concern there is their claim that they would be coming back and that there would be more of them,” says Lipske. “They would ‘blanking kill people’ if the police weren’t coming.”

Lipske says his office and the sheriff’s department don’t have the resources to conduct a statewide investigation. He’s seeking the public’s help, asking them to contact the sheriff’s department with any information.

Although Gov. Scott Walker personally offered law enforcement help to Iron County, the Department of Justice says no state agency is assisting in this investigation.
