By

The state is warning Wisconsin residents still cleaning up from recent flooding to be careful if they hire someone to help.

Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection spokesman Jim Dick says you need to know the clean-up business you’re dealing with.

Dick says storm chasers will often ask for money up front. He says people should check references and make sure a business is insured and has a lien waiver.

The City of Boscobel was hit hard by flooding, and officials say they haven’t had any reports of flood scams so far.
