Featured in this Show

  • Health Insurance through the Affordable Care Act

As Wisconsinites close in on the sign-up dates for individuals and businesses to purchase health insurance through the federal Affordable Care Act, the state’s Department of Health Services is stepping up its efforts to better inform the public about the program; we learn more from DHS’s western Wisconsin area administrator, Jamie Christianson-Fawcett (at left).

Additional details are available by emailing the Western Region Enrollment Network in La Crosse County.

  • La Crosse's first Passive House

Western Technical College is poised to build La Crosse’s first Passive House; this approach to super-insulated, air-tight construction can save as much as 90 percent on home energy costs. The project is part of its new Center for Building Innovation. In this updated presentation of segments first broadcast in May, we talk with WTC instructors Joshua VandeBerg and Mike Poellinger; Western’s Associate Dean of Industrial Technology, Dan Bee; and WTC consultants and Passive House designers Tim Delhey Eian and Stephan Tanner, partners in Intep, a Twin Cities-based design and engineering firm.
