I first learned of the Garland Encyclopedia of World Music 10 Volume Series in 2017 while attending an ethnomusicology conference in Washington, DC. With that discovery came the name Ruth M. Stone. Her credentials are as impressive. Her body of work is even more so. Stone's research continues to inspire my efforts in world music. From her and others, I understand better and better the value of social context, varied human expressions in song, AND scholarship to each recording I air.

Each massive volume in the series is an gold mine of information for any world music scholar, informed fan, officionado, radio host, or producer. They have become essential reference materials for my work as student of world music. This long overdue encyclopedia series profoundly affirms the value of celebrating heritage through informed musical knowledge of music making across the globe. Stone and her colleagues in world music have with the assistance of Routledge should be roundly applauded. For me, the collection represents the very essence of inclusion and diversity. Thank you!
