Former President Bill Clinton made a stop in Milwaukee over the weekend to campaign for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. He urged the audience to vote for the candidate who would make the best commander in chief.
“When you vote for a president, you’re hiring somebody to do a job,” Clinton said. “And the job they do will affect the lives of everybody in this room, our children and our grandchildren and the whole future of the country.”
Clinton said the best thing that came out of the Democratic National Convention was Hillary and Sen. Bernie Sanders combining their plans to make college more affordable. He said the country has serious problems with the student debt crisis.

“We send a young person with a new education, hopes for the future, we need to get a good job, we need them to be able to have their own homes, start their own families,” Clinton said. “We send them out saddled with an interest rate that’s more than twice as great as their parents’ home mortgage rate.”
Student debt also makes it more difficult for people to start their own businesses, he said, and his wife is the only candidate that has a specific plan to help the growth of small businesses.
Clinton did not mention Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by name but did challenge Trump’s slogan of “Make America Great Again.”
He said as a white southerner, he knows the slogan is divisive but Hillary plans to help America rise together.
