First Lady Stumps for President in Wisconsin

First Lady Michelle Obama is in Wisconsin today.She’s in Racine and Wausau, campaigning for her husband’s reelection, and encouraging people to take advantage of early voting.

Firing up supporters in Racine, First Lady Michelle Obama said the difference between winning and losing in a battleground state like Wisconsin could be a few thousand votes.That translates to a handful of votes per ward.Addressing an enthusiastic and capacity crowd of around 25-hundred, Mrs. Obama passionately made the case for her husband’s reelection, highlighting his accomplishments, talking a lot about character, values, and priorities, and imploring people in the audience to work even harder.

“We have come so far, but we know we have so much more work to do,” she said.”Are we ready for this?Can we get this done?Eighteen more days, working hard!I know we can do it!”

Joanne Garrett of Racine had signed up before the speech to work at an Obama campaign phone bank tomorrow.She said Mrs. Obama’s firey speech inspired her to put in even more hours.

“He’s done quite a bit in four years,” she said. “We were in quite a mess when things [Obama’s term] started.It [the speech] reminded us to be hopeful and hang in there.”

Early voting in Wisconsin begins on Monday.
