  • Expert Explains Dip In Wisconsin Gas Prices

Last week, gas prices in Wisconsin hit a three-year low at about $3.14 a gallon for regular unleaded fuel.

According to oil-trading advisor Jim Ritterbusch, that’s because the price of crude oil has decreased about $12, or 11 percent, since Labor Day.

According to Ritterbusch, that fall can be attributed to “production (of crude) running at near 25-year highs” and a supply surplus of about 45 million barrels in the U.S.

While gas prices are relatively low, they remain above $3 in most parts of the state and Ritterbusch said he doesn’t expect prices to fall below that anytime soon. Demand on the global market isn’t letting up with “strong demand from China, India, and some of the other emerging economies,” said Ritterbusch.

When asked about the role that an increase in natural gas production might have on the price drop, Ritterbusch said, “They are being driven by a completely different set of forces … on the consumption side it is a different list of consumers.”

He also suggested that any increase in global oil supply as a result of this past weekend’s nuclear agreement with Iran will not be seen until “beyond the middle of next year” as “it’s going to take a long time for Iranian barrels to return to the market in force.”

  • Why Have Gas Prices Been So Low?

For the last couple of months, gas prices have been pretty low in the United States. Now they’re starting to creep up a little bit. An expert on oil trading explains why prices dropped and what he expects to happen to them during the holiday season.

  • Before I Die…

After a friend died, our guest artist painted the words: “Before I Die” on the walls of an abandoned house in her New Orleans neighborhood. She let the community fill in the blanks. The wall became a sounding board of hope, dreams, fear, and love. That story, today.
