The speaker of the state Assembly says he still doesn’t expect a vote in the full Legislature on a GOP bill that would repeal Wisconsin’s prevailing wage law.
An Assembly committee voted 5-4 on Wednesday for a full repeal of the prevailing wage, and for the first time, a spokeswoman for Gov. Scott Walker said Walker would sign that repeal. Speaker Robin Vos downplayed those developments, saying the votes still aren’t there for the repeal to pass the Legislature.
“I have supported repeal, I still support repeal, but I’m also a realist. And a realist says take the most you can get and accept that as a win. Some folks believe it’s all or nothing. That’s not how the Legislature works,” said Vos.

Vos said he wants to pass changes to prevailing wage so that it does not apply to smaller government building projects, changes that he said could be added to the state budget.
