The state Department of Transportation has finished most of its planned roadwork ahead of the holiday weekend, though Thanksgiving travelers may still see some delays on the roads.

In a statement, the DOT said crews have completed their major projects for the year.

But there are still lane and ramp closures in some areas, including several near the Zoo Interchange in Milwaukee County.

The state says the ramps from I-41/US 45 southbound to I-94 eastbound, from I-94 westbound to I-41/I-894 southbound and from I-94 eastbound to I-41/US 45 northbound are affected.

Drivers on I39/90 in Dane and Rock counties, the Madison Beltline and parts of US 10 in Winnebago County may also encounter reduced speed limits and new road configurations.

Along with those issues, the state is likely to see heavy traffic this week — AAA Wisconsin projects nearly a million residents traveling for the holiday.

Other potential road issues include deer — which the DOT says are still extremely active — and the possibility of snow or ice in the forecast.

Officials say travelers can get updates on road conditions and traffic delays at 511WI.gov or through the state’s 511 phone service.
