Democrats are giving no indication that they plan to make political hay out of Gov. Scott Walker’s son attending a family member’s same-sex wedding.

Walker has a long record of supporting Wisconsin’s gay marriage ban, so it raised eyebrows when his son Alex served as a legal witness to a family member’s same-sex wedding. Walker downplayed the event, saying he had no problem with it and that it was simply a case of someone supporting a family member they love.

During an appearance on Wisconsin Public Radio, Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz was asked whether she had anything to say about Alex Walker’s actions.

“Absolutely not. I mean, the Democratic Party supports marriage equality, supports full equality for all Americans, and if the governor’s son attended a same-sex wedding, more power to him,” said Wasserman Schultz. “We all should be embracing full equality under the law.”

Walker’s Democratic challenger, Mary Burke, has also kept quiet about Walker’s son, saying only that she thinks that the governor should be clear with voters about where he stands on gay marriage.
