Democrats in the state Assembly say a possible Republican funding plan for Wisconsin roads is laughable and going nowhere.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported Tuesday the GOP plan may include imposing the sales tax on gasoline, cutting income taxes and a wide array of other tax changes.
Assembly Democratic Minority Leader Peter Barca calls the potential plan a “non-starter.” He predicts Gov. Scott Walker won’t support it.

Walker said earlier Tuesday he had not seen a final version of the plan. Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald said some of the ideas may be a “heavy lift” in the Senate, but he’s withholding comment until it’s officially released.
Democratic Rep. Gordon Hintz said the plan appears to be overly complex and would jeopardize funding for other areas like K-12 schools.
