After nearly five years, Dan Robinson bids a fond farewell as host of “Simply Folk,” Wisconsin Public Radio’s popular Sunday evening program of folk and Americana music. His last show will be May 2.
"Dan was right at home on ‘Simply Folk’ from the very start,” said Peter Bryant, WPR’s director of NPR News & Music. “For someone who arrived here with little radio experience, the speed with which he made the show his own was remarkable. Dan has an innate sense of how to put the show together, and most of all how to connect with listeners.”
Reflecting on his time hosting the show, Dan said, "It’s been a privilege to carry the torch for almost five years with ‘Simply Folk.’ My hope has been to be a good steward of the show, honoring the show’s tradition, serving the listeners today, and leaving it in a good place for the future. My deep gratitude goes out to WPR and the ‘Simply Folk’ team, the hosts who came before me, the musicians who generously shared their talents, and the listeners for all their support. It’s been a great time."
For the time being, listeners will hear the familiar voices of Sile Shigley and Jeff Durkee, who will share hosting duties until a replacement for Dan is found.
Tune in for "Simply Folk" each Sunday at 5 p.m. on WPR's network of stations around Wisconsin, live stream at wpr.org, on the WPR App or on your Alexa-enabled smart speaker.
