German candymaker Haribo plans to build a new plant in Pleasant Prairie bringing with it an estimated 400 jobs.

Gov. Scott Walker announced the decision Thursday at a state Capitol news conference flanked by local government leaders from Pleasant Prairie and Kenosha County, as well as business groups from southeast Wisconsin.

“Because of the excellent synergies that we have of an excellent workforce, of great cooperation between public and private, local and state, that coming together, this was the perfect spot for them to plant their first North-American manufacturing facility,” Walker said.
