POSITION SUMMARY
This position integrates the information technologies components of WPR's broadcast and networking infrastructure. Responsibilities include planning, installing, securing, and supporting all broadcast IT and networking systems used to produce live and pre-recorded radio in the statewide operation. Reports to the Broadcast Network Manager
DEGREE AND AREA OF SPECIALIZATION
Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
MINIMUM YEARS AND TYPE OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 3 years' experience working in a broadcast IT or engineering field with extensive knowledge of current broadcast IT products, standards, and best practices. Must have direct experience with WideOrbit automation, MusicMaster, and Axia equipment. Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one is required.
NOT REQUIRED BUT DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience working in public broadcasting. Familiarity with VMWare ESXi/Vsphere, VMWare Horizon, iSCSI storage networking, Cisco IOS, Juniper JunOS, Fortinet Security Fabric, Dell EMC networking, Linux server administration, Ruby and Python programming languages, VOIP system configuration and management, LAN/WAN architectures and protocols, physical network design, and network security best practices.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
1. Assist in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of all broadcast IT and networking systems. Uphold software, firmware, and hardware configuration standards.
2. Enforce all network security protocols necessary to protect WPR's infrastructure. Ensure compliance with university standards.
3. Research, explore and test new solutions and products.
4. Maintain threat detection and performance monitoring systems, respond to alerts, assist staff, and provide after-hours support of systems and equipment.
5. Create, verify, and maintain accurate documentation of configurations, wiring, procedures and inventories.
6. Use of state or UW owned vehicles to regularly travel to WPR regional offices around the state to support systems and equipment. Trips will sometimes occur on short notice.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Expected salary range for this position is $62,500 up to $72,500 for highly experienced candidates who exceed the qualifications. Actual pay and title will depend on experience and qualifications.
