Academy Awards To Add New 'Popular Film' Category
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced last week that it will introduce a new awards category that honors more popular and mainstream movies. The decision has been widely criticized. One camp argues that the inclusion of the category will cheapen the award. While others have said that it’s just another way to exclude films. We talk with film critic Reggie Ponder about the move and what it could mean for the Oscars.
