SHERRY'S HUNGARIAN APPLESAUCE

8 Medium Cooking apples
1 Cup Water
2 Tbs Flour
1 Cup Sugar

1 tsp Ground nutmeg
¼ tsp Salt
½ Cup Lowfat sour cream*

Wash and peel apples. Cut in quarters and remove cores. Place in saucepan with water. Cover and cook until apples are tender, but not falling to pieces. Mix flour with 1/4 cup of the sugar, add to apples, and cook until thickened. Stir in remaining sugar, nutmeg, salt, and sour cream. Serve warm or cold.


Servings: 7

Cooking Tips:
*Chef's Tip: Sherry shares this substitute for sour cream. 1 cup low fat cottage cheese, 1/4 cup water, 1 Tbs. lemon juice put in a blender.
