CRISPY APPLE CRUMBLE

2½ Cups Old-fashioned oats
1½ Cups Packed brown sugar, divided
1 Cup Whole wheat flour
1 Stick Unsalted butter, chilled and cut into ½ inch cubes
5 Large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, cut into 8 slices

3 Tbs Fresh lemon juice
1¼ Tbs Ground cinnamon
½ tsp Nutmeg
½ tsp Ground cloves

Mix oats, 1 cup of sugar and flour in a bowl. Add butter cubes and rub into moist clumps.* Cover and chill.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Spray a glass baking dish with nonstick spray. In a separate bowl, combine the apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and remaining brown sugar. Transfer to the baking dish and sprinkle with oat/sugar mix.

Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is brown and crisp. Cool briefly and then serve warm in bowls.**

Cooking Tips:
*Can be made a day ahead.
**Garnish with a dollop of vanilla ice cream!
