TOM RISES (OR HANGS) TO THE CHALLENGE!

One of our listeners called in with a question for Zorba about relieving back pain by hanging upside down on the monkey bars at his local park.

Zorba told him that, if done safely, it could be an effective way to decompress pressure on his back. He also advised him to couple his “monkey bar” therapy with some stretching exercises from a physical therapist.

But, Zorba was surprised by this unique and unorthodox home remedy – thinking that the monkey bars were only for kids. Tom disagreed explaining that climbing on the monkey bars was like “riding a bike” and was fit for all ages.

So Zorba challenged Tom to put his money where his mouth was and hang from the monkey bars, with photographic proof of course. Tom promised he would do so when the weather cleared. Well, on a recent trip to the West Coast to visit his grandchildren, Tom made good on his promise.

With a little help from his 6 year old grandson, Lucius, Tom proved that the playground still belongs to both the young, and the young at heart!

(Although, we can’t tell if Tom is smiling or in pain!)
