Wisconsin Home Sales Keep Growing

Sales of Wisconsin homes have increased each month for almost the last two years.

The Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) says home sales were up 18 percent in May compared with May of last year. It’s the 23rd straight month of positive home sales.

Marquette University economist David Clark who works with the WRA expects growth to continue into the near future at a slower rate – perhaps at 8-10 percent. He says there’s been a lot of pent-up demand from first-time homebuyers since the housing crash subsided.

The median price for a home sold in Wisconsin in May was $144,000 dollars, a 4.3 percent increase from a year ago.

Median home prices increased in every region of the state except the north. Clark says there remains volatility in the sale of vacation homes.
