Wisconsin gun shops say business is booming in the wake of terrorist attacks in Paris and California.

The state Department of Justice reported processing a record 1,750 background checks for handguns on Black Friday. The DOJ also reported that gun dealers say that surge is still strong.

Shorty Goza, the owner of Shorty’s Shooting Sports in Milwaukee, said he’s on track to have his best December sales in five years.

“I think people are just scared, they’re fed up and the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is have a good guy with a gun. That’s what it comes down to, and that’s what I think people’s mindsets are right now,” said Goza.

In Wausau, staff at Central Wisconsin Firearms say their handgun sales have more than doubled since the attacks in Paris and California.
