The Central Wisconsin Radio Project
A New Central Wisconsin Public Radio Station - Overview

STATUS UPDATE: Final engineering for WHAA-FM is being completed and we're waiting for final approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The Mead Witter Foundation of Wisconsin Rapids has granted $55,000 to support the building of a new Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) station to serve about one-quarter million citizens in central Wisconsin.

Since the inception of Wisconsin Public Radio’s Ideas Network in 1990, central Wisconsin has been without a full-time radio signal for this network. The Ideas Network provides primarily Wisconsin-produced issues-based talk programming during the week. The weekends feature entertainment programming like Car Talk, Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know, A Prairie Home Companion, and Old Time Radio. View Full Announcement (pdf)

We've matched the $25,000 grant from Mead Witter Foundation.
We're now $4,835 over the matching goal.
