Faced with the daunting task of helping police departments tackle inner-city crime and reduce gun violence, Joy Cardin's guest put forth an idea: Ask offenders to stop. This hour, we'll discuss how law enforcement agencies across the country are taking a new approach to reducing crime, and how local municipalities are putting these ideas to work in our own backyard. Guests: - David Kennedy, Director of the Center for Crime Prevention and Control at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. He's the author of, "Don't Shoot: One Man, A Street Fellowship, and the End of Violence in Inner-City America" - Tom Woodmansee, Lieutenant of Investigative Support, head of the Special Investigations Unit and the Focused Deterrence Program for the Madison Police Department.
