At Issue with Ben Merens
from Monday, October 29, 2012 at 4:00 PM
A storm of historic proportions is bearing down on the east coast, causing dangerous conditions, mass evacuations, and a shutdown of the U.S. stock market. Ben Merens and his guest discuss the impact Hurricane Sandy, and the possible implications it could have on weather in the Midwest. Guests: - Jennifer Collins, associate professor of geography at the University of South Florida, who specializes in weather and climate. She was part of a team of "hurricane hunters" who collected data on Hurricane Sandy by flying through the storm in a plane. - Hugh Willoughby, Distinguished Research Professor in the department of earth and environment at Florida International University. Former director of the Hurricane Research Division of NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory. He's flown more than 400 missions into the eye of storms.
