Walker Subpoenaed for Rindfleisch Case

By

Gov. Scott Walker has been subpoenaed to testify in the case of one of his former aides accused of criminal misconduct in Milwaukee County.

Unless there’s a plea agreement reached beforehand, former Walker aide Kelly Rindfeisch is scheduled to go to trial next week. She’s accused of helping politicians campaign for office in 2010 while working on county time as a close aide to then-Milwaukee County Executive Walker. Rindfleisch’s Attorney Franklynn Gimbel says as part of his defense plan, he’s subpoenaed Scott Walker, “I expect he will appear during the defense portion of the case and will answer questions about Kelly’s performance of her duties in that office.”

Gimbel says defense lawyers subpoenaing a key witness is fairly common in certain kinds of cases, “This is a white collar crime.”

Gov. Walker’s office in Madison, did not reply to an e-mail requesting comment. It’s possible Walker’s attorney could try to quash the subpoena, but Gimbel says his understanding is that Walker will honor the subpoena and appear at a time that fits into the governor’s travel plans.
