Walker On A Romney Presidential Run: GOP Needs ‘A Fresh Face’

Gov. Scott Walker has dismissed talk of another Mitt Romney run for president, saying it’s time for Republicans to turn to someone new.

Romney is reportedly moving aggressively behind the scenes to secure GOP support for a third run at the White House. Walker, however, told reporters it’s time for someone else.

“I think Mitt’s a good man, and I think he would have been a good president,” he said. “But I think particularly, when you look at where things shape up in two years, I think it’s pretty hard to make an argument about going forward when you’re arguing about people and ideas from the past.”

He added that he believes “a fresh face with new ideas” will be needed to run against Hillary Clinton, whom he sees as the likely Democratic nominee.

Walker will speak to a gathering of the Republican National Committee in California on Thursday night, where he says he’ll stress the need for “fresh new ideas” and people who have a record of conservative accomplishments.
