Walker Returns To Europe On State Business

Trade Mission Also Provides International Stage For Unofficial Presidential Bid

Gov. Scott Walker continues his travels out of state and overseas this week as he ramps up his likely campaign for president.

Walker was in Nashville Friday, where he addressed the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting along with 10 other Republican presidential contenders. From there, he left for a week-long trade mission to Germany, France and Spain.

The Europe trip is a state-funded trade mission that Walker’s office says is focused on increasing Wisconsin’s exports in those countries. Walker took a similar state-funded trip to London earlier this year.

Walker will cut short this week’s Europe trip so he can attend a political event in New Hampshire this coming weekend. Next month, Walker will take another overseas trip to Israel, but that one will not funded by taxpayers.

Walker has been in Wisconsin recently, but he makes very few public appearances, making it much harder to know when he’s here.
