The state has signed off on a plan to increase a fee paid by cranberry growers to help pay for scientific research, though Wisconsin's cranberry board won’t increase the fee until the cranberry market improves.

John and Tashia Morgridge have donated $100 million to the University of Wisconsin-Madison to encourage matching gifts from other donors, and to pay for professorships and department chairs at the school.

State regulators have approved yet another proposal that allows utilities to increase the fixed amount of money they charge customers for electricity usage. This time, the proposal was one submitted by We Energies, a Milwaukee-based utility that is also the largest in the state of Wisconsin.

Madison cab services and city officials have been raising concerns over the impact of ridesharing services ever since Uber and Lyft arrived in the city last year. Now, a city council subcommittee is recommending strict regulations on the companies that would prohibit "surge pricing" and require the companies to operate 24 hours a day.
