Supporters of Tony Robinson, a 19-year-old black man who was fatally shot by a white police officer in March, said on Monday they’re critical of the probe looking into the incident.

The state Division of Criminal Investigation investigated the shooting under a relatively new Wisconsin law that prevents police departments from investigating themselves when there is a police-involved death. The division has concluded its probe, and passed on its findings in the shooting to Dane County’s district attorney on March 27.

At a press conference outside the Dane County Courthouse, Robinson’s friends contended that the outside investigation is compromised because retired police officers were involved. They said they would ask the United Nations to conduct its own investigation.

Last Friday, Madison police released documents requested by the media. Those reports detailed past incidents involving Tony Robinson and Madison police officer Matt Kenny. All those incidents occurred before the shooting.

Correction: The broadcast version of this story said that the name of the governmental body that investigated the Robinson shooting was the Department of Criminal Investigation. The body is actually called the Division of Criminal Investigation.
