After hosting nearly two-dozen “tax reform roundtables” throughout the state, Wisconsin’s Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch and Revenue Secretary Richard Chandler have released a report that makes no recommendations on how to change the state’s tax code.

The final report concludes that taxes are too high, and that the property tax and personal income tax are most burdensome. It also says that Wisconsin’s tax laws are too complex.

Aside from those points, the report does not make recommendations.

If changes to Wisconsin’s tax laws are in store, they’re likely to be introduced by Gov.Scott Walker as part of his next state budget. Walker has said he wants to continue to cut taxes after reducing them by about $2 billion in his first term. What could make that more difficult in a second Walker term is a budget deficit that was last projected to be roughly $2.2 billion.
