State Introduces New Online Unemployment Benefits Application System

New System Allows Users To Complete Application Process Entirely Online, Without Having To Rely On Call Center

Wisconsin’s Department of Workforce Development says it is working to eliminate the wait-time for unemployment benefits with a new online application.

Previously, new applicants for unemployment had to begin the process online then call a representative to finish. Now, in a new system recently introduced by DWD Secretary Reggie Newson at a career expo in Green Bay, applicants can complete the entire process online.

“We’re really excited about this, because this is the most robust change we’ve made to our internet portal in several years,” said Newson.

Newson said that “antiquated software” had been clogging the system.

“Now … they’ll get better customer service, quicker service, self service so they can get their benefit check as quickly as possible,” said Newson.

Newson said the quicker people enter the unemployment system, the quicker they can get out if they take advantage of help the department offers for job searchers.
