The new weapon was one that enabled its makers to build an empire. Thirty-five hundred years ago, the Egyptians carved a large swath of territory in North Africa and the Middle East with an army attacking from chariots. UW-Madison Engineering Physics Professor Bela Sandor will detail the technological breakthroughs that, for a time, made the Egyptians the masters of the known world.
