Heard On Route 51

This week, Route 51 welcomes author James L. Pope of Plover, the leader of the Rural Heritage Reading Project. The project teaches children about the people and the culture of their local Wisconsin history, while fostering an appreciation for reading and literacy. Pope is the author of Everyday Adventures of a Farm Boy in the ’50s, an illustrated, hardcover book for elementary school students detailing his experiences growing up on a small, central Wisconsin farm six decades ago. Pope not only paid to have the book published and printed, but gives away hundreds of copies each year to area fourth grade students as part of the Reading Project.
