This Thursday, October 8th at 10 am, Wisconsin Public Radio’s Route 51 features the original orchestral compositions of two popular central Wisconsin musicians, John Altenburgh and Dan Larson, who will perform them with the Wausau Symphony October 17th at the Grand Theater in Wausau. Altenburgh has released over 20 albums, and has received critical acclaim for his jazz and blues arrangements with the John Altenburgh Jazz Ensemble and Johnny and the MoTones. This year, he started another musical chapter by composing 15 pieces for a full symphony orchestra. Larson has performed original orchestral suites with the Allegro Dance Theater and Wausau Community Theater. He is the director of the Wausau Symphony and Band, and recently released an album of jazz standards and original compositions with his trio, 3-D Jazz. Altenburgh and Larson will discuss their latest musical ventures with Route 51 host Glen Moberg.
