    Wisconsin state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) has represented the 31st state Senate District since 2007. She is seeking a third four year term and facing a challenge from farmer and former member of the Pierce County Board of Supervisors Mel Pittman. (R-Plum City)The person who wins the November 4 election will represent Buffalo and Pepin Counties, most of Pierce and Trempealeau Counties, and part of Eau Claire, Dunn and Jackson Counties.

    In this part of the forum, the candidates talk about their views on whether drug testing should be a contingent for receiving food stamps in Wisconsin, voter ID issues, their views on whether state or local government should have more say on the regulation of frack sand mines in Wisconsin.

    Wisconsin’s 31st State Senate District is made up of voters in Buffalo and Pepin Counties, much of Pierce and Trempealeau Counties and part of Eau Claire, Dunn and Jackson Counties. The voters will choose November 4 between incumbent state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, (D-Alma) who has represented the district since 2007, and is looking for a third four year term. She is being challenged by farmer and former Pierce County Board of Supervisors member Mel Pittman. (R-Plum City)

    This part of the forum explores the candidate’s views on nutrient management to prevent problems with farm runoff, women’s reproductive health issues and their views on gay marriage.
