La Crosse County Housing Study; La Crosse Social Host Ordinance

Featured in this Show

  • La Crosse County Housing Cost Study

A recent study compares the cost of living in an average cost home in a variety of La Crosse County communities. The report by La Crosse County UW Extension looks issues like property taxes, garbage collection, water and sewer and transportation costs associated with commuting. The study examines the costs in the cities of La Crosse and Onalaska, the villages of Holmen and West Salem and the towns of Onalaska and Farmington.

  • La Crosse Social Host Ordinance

The city of La Crosse will consider creating a new ordinance that would establish a fine of home owners who allow underage people to drink alcohol on their property. The ordinance is similar to one the city of Onalaska passed last fall. Other communities across Wisconsin have approved social host laws designed to reduce underage drinking.
