Little Rock Lake Acid Rain Experiment

Air Date:
Heard On Route 51

This week we focus on a decades long experiment on acid rain pollution at Little Rock Lake, north of Minocqua. The pristine hourglass lake was divided into two halves with a barrier- one half received gradual doses of acid and the other half was left untouched. The experiment, which concluded recently with the removal of the barrier, has been credited with changing national environmental policy. Our guests will include the people behind the project: Dr. Carl Watras, DNR Research Scientist; Dr. Susan Knight, DNR Botanist and Aquatic Invasive Species Specialist; and Dr. Tim Kratz, Director of the Trout Lake Station
